Our Story

Founded in 1985, CareTech SE is the brainchild of Jan Eric Larson. Larson founded CareTech shortly after developing the Attendo protocol for medical alarm dialers and then subsequently selling this to Tunstall in the UK. A resident of Kalix—a municipality in Sweden, Jan Eric started developing the CareTech brand of medical alarm dialer units after his sale to Tunstall.

Three years on, CareTech SE released its first hardwired nurse call system in 1989. The system was built to supplement the radio medical alarm dialer units and radio systems that had already been developed. After ending his working relationship with Tunstall, Bob Ryan travelled from Australia to Sweden and with a handshake deal became the CareTech distributor for Australia and New Zealand.

A start-up company, CareTech is owned by the Ryan family which includes Bob, his wife Sharyn, and their two sons. Over the years, the Ryan Family have supplied nurse call systems to many independent aged care facilities throughout South-East Queensland. Ozcare—a provider of aged care facilities and homecare in Queensland, was the first organization to source CareTech’s equipment. Ozcare continues to use CareTech in its 13 sites.

In 2004, CareTech recruited Matt Ryan as the Sales and Marketing Manager and in 2005, he took over as Managing Director. Today Matt is the CEO of the company.

100% Australian owned and operated, CareTech designs and manufactures nurse call solutions in Brisbane. The company has its office & warehouse in Clontarf while its PCB board manufacturing plant is in Underwood. Our team is available to talk over your requirements and will work personally with your organization to not only resolve problems, but also to build your exact solution.
